Senator: when extending the start-3 should be taken into account, Russia’s position on missile defense


The head of the Federation Council Committee on defense and security Viktor Ozerov commented on the media publications about the desire of U.S. President Barack Obama to extend the contract with Russia about reduction of strategic offensive arms (start-3) for another five years.

Ozerov noted that overall, Russia supports the idea of control over such weapons, however, unlikely to extend the contract, if it is not taken into account its concern about the deployment of a missile defense system (NMD) in Europe.
