The British government rejected the petition for a new referendum on Brexit

The UK government refused to hold a new referendum on the country’s membership in the European Union, as required by the authors of the petition garnered 4.1 million signatures, reports The Independent.

The UK authorities explained their refusal by the fact that for the country’s withdrawal from the EU in the last referendum voted 33 million people.

The petitioners believed that the first referendum to be canceled, as the turnout was less than 75% of voters, and for the release voted less than 60% from outside the.

However, with the holding of the referendum such conditions were not prescribed.
