Solved the main mystery of the origin of the moon

American researchers John Wade and Bernard wood of Oxford University conducted the calculations, which allowed them to find the key proof of the theory of impact origin of the moon. According to the researchers, the fact that the satellite Land is water, does not contradict the version according to which he arose after the Earth’s collision with another object.

According to the most common to date version, the Moon appeared after the Earth crashed into a huge space object, the weight of which could amount to a fifth part of the mass of our planet. However, until now it was assumed that when such a collision in the lunar soil should not contain water — it should evaporate from the satellite, immediately after its formation. However, computer modeling conducted by scientists have shown that the presence of water on the moon drum version of her origin is not “crosses”.

Experts came to the conclusion that soon for the first time after the “birth” of the moon, the water or the hydrogen could still be in it, being dissolved in the magma. Subsequently, the water is “hardened” with the rocks in which it is now possible to detect. According to experts, this suggests that “shock” version of the origin of the moon is correct, with more confidence than ever.

Scientific paper written on the results of their research experts presented on the pages of the journal Earth and Planetary Science Letters.

By the way, recently another group of scientists from the Royal Observatory of Belgium made with the assumption that the satellites of Mars, Phobos and Deimos, also formed as a result of collision of the red planet with another large celestial body. While made by specialists of the model meant that, along with the two currently known satellites in the past of Mars there was a third moon, but it was heavier and some time later “crashed” on the planet. It is also argued that in the future similar awaits Phobos, then Deimos will remain the only natural satellite of Mars.
