The U.S. air force by order of the command left the area of fighting in Syria at a critical moment, when there was a fight between the moderate opposition and terrorists “Islamic state” (banned in Russia). As a result, the operation was failed.
According to The Washington Post, citing its own sources, American pilots provided cover for an attack on the town of Abu Kamal in Eastern Syria on June 28. In the course of military operations, the pilots received an order to leave the area and head to the outskirts of the city of Fallujah in Iraq.
As a result, the fighters of the Free Syrian army had to retreat. The failure of the joint operation was a significant blow to US plans to establish local military units, able to resist the Islamists, the newspaper notes.
