The President of Abkhazia Khajimba has suspended the interior Minister after the riots


The hours-long unrest in Abkhazia were successful: interior Minister Leonid Dzapshba was temporarily suspended by the decree of the President. The opposition goes home.

Abkhaz leader Raul Khajimba made a decision on temporary suspension of the interior Minister Leonid Dzapshba. This move, he explained the reluctance to bring the situation to bloodshed. Vice-President Vitaly Gabnia, read out the corresponding decree gathered outside the Ministry the opposition. The duties of the Minister of internal Affairs of Abkhazia is entrusted to first Deputy interior Minister Boris Abitova.

The suspension is valid for the period of investigation by the Prosecutor General of the protests of the opposition.

In the administration of the head of state said that after the riots the Minister of internal Affairs Leonid dzyapshba has resigned. But the President has not yet accepted this statement by selecting the option of temporary suspension of the interior Minister from office.

Organized after the statement of Raul Khajimba press conference the head of state said that the rioting is an attempt to destabilize the situation in the Republic. The resignation of the Minister of interior, he called the only reason.

A rally outside the interior Ministry gathered after the Network has published a recording of alleged Minister Leonid Zapsib urged the Department officials to boycott the referendum on early elections of the President of the country. The opposition demanded to dismiss an official on the grounds that including the deterioration of a criminogenic situation in the country.

Gradually, the rally turned into a riot. The protesters broke the gate of the Ministry, the crowd several times stormed the building and threw his Molotov cocktails. At some point, the audience managed to break through the cordon and come close to the main entrance, shouting “get Out! Out!”, addressed to Minister Leonid Dzapshba. In addition, the building was set on fire by Molotov cocktails, but the fire was extinguished.

When the President of Abkhazia made a decision on temporary suspension of Minister of interior, the rally ended. The protests lasted more than 10 hours.
