The OSCE PA adopted a resolution on the inadmissibility of sanctions against parliamentarians

Russian politicians welcomed the adoption by the parliamentary Assembly of the OSCE on Monday a resolution which actually condemns the imposition of sanctions against parliamentarians.

The Chairman of the Duma Committee on international Affairs Alexei Pushkov said that the resolution in its final version called for unlimited access by all parliamentarians of the OSCE countries to the activities of the organization and adopted by 94 votes to 44. According to him, this confirms the recognition of most of the European parliamentarians of the need to abandon sanctions, reports TASS.

He also believes the adoption of this document by the merit of the Russian parliamentary delegation, the leadership of the state Duma and the Federation Council.

He added that it was “a significant shift, a blow to the logic of sanctions, it is an indication that the sanctions approach is gradually becoming obsolete”.
