Foreign Minister of Turkey Mevlut Cavusoglu said that Ankara’s readiness to cooperate with Russia to combat terrorism means the use by aircraft of VC RF base “Incirlik”. Thus the Turkish foreign Minister has denied his own words, spoken earlier about the fact that the base is open to everyone who wants to join the fight against ISIS (banned in Russia).
The Turkish foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said Monday afternoon that this base of “Incirlik” in the light of the cooperation of Ankara with Moscow in the fight against the terrorist group “Islamic state” (banned in Russia) is not.
Thus Cavusoglu denied either his words, or the interpretation of his words about using this database. We will remind that earlier it was reported that the channel ТRТ Cavusoglu made such use. He said that Turkey is ready to cooperate with everyone who fights ISIS and the Incirlik base is open to everyone who wants this fight to join. “And why don’t we cooperate in the same manner and with Russia?”, – led Agency phrase the head of the Turkish foreign Ministry.
In Russia, many experts interpreted this information as a political victory of Russia. For example, doctor of military Sciences Konstantin Sivkov in an interview with RIA “Novosti” said: “Incirlik” is a huge geopolitical victory for the Russian Federation in Russian-Turkish relations. With that, they will actually break relations with the U.S. and deal a major blow to the unity of NATO”.
However, the press Secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov said that the Kremlin is a statement heard through the media. According to him, it is not known whether any official communication on this account through the military. Peskov added that the statement need more time to adequately perform and in political and military terms, than will be engaged in appropriate services.
The decision to use database accepts Turkey, but the activity of “Incirlik” is governed by the agreement between the USA and Turkey. Currently, Turkey has allowed to use the base in Incirlik, the U.S. air force, Germany, great Britain, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, ie the aircraft to the coalition fight against ISIS.
