Andrey Dementyev has conquered Carnegie hall

In the famous hall of Carnegie hall, took place a unique event — for the first time here held a poetry evening of Russian poet Andrey Dementyev “Everything begins with love…”. It was held in the framework of the festival “Our heritage”, organised by the Russian American Foundation, led by Marina Kovaleva.

Andrei Dementyev is not necessary to provide — a wonderful lyric, bright publicist and public figure, author of over 50 poetry books and hundreds of popular songs — they successfully performed by young actors and stars of Russian and foreign music. The legendary editor in chief of the magazine “Youth”, which in 70-80 years had an enormous circulation — 3000 million copies. His poems and songs as a hymn of love, kindness, genuine romance and patriotism, and books have been translated into many languages. He is a laureate of the state prize, as well as many Russian and international awards, including the Bunin, Lermontov and Tsarskoye Selo, Slavic Academy of arts and music festivals in Poland, Italy, Bulgaria, Germany.

On an evening at Carnegie hall came numerous representatives of the Russian Diaspora in new York, diplomatic missions of UN, ambassadors of the CIS, Professor, Department of Slavic studies, Columbia and new York universities. Poems sounded in Russian and English translation, American poet Julian Lowenfeld. And the simplicity, the harmony and artistry of the performances of Andrey Dementyev, as always, created a unique atmosphere of confidential conversation with the audience.

Anticipating the festival “Our heritage” and the evening of Andrey Dementyev in particular, the mayor of new York bill De Blasio said, “I applaud the event, which helps to preserve cultural heritage and traditions of the Russian Diaspora in the USA! It is very important for our multiethnic city.”

The ceremony also included a presentation of the just released new books of the poet – “I keep falling in love with you” and “Swan fidelity”.
