The head of the Central election Commission (CEC) of the Russian Federation Ella Pamfilova has responded to the demand of opposition leader Alexei Navalny to prevent its unregistered “progress Party” to participate in the elections. Pamfilova believes that the way Navalny seeks to combat violations of the law, but he operates illegally.
According to her, Navalny demands for his party’s “privileged participation”, which is contrary to the principle of “free and competitive elections”. Pamfilova invited the members of the party Navalny to run in single-mandate districts or to operate through a “close-minded” party.
“The Bulk requirement of admission to the election in violation of the law causes confusion because the COP its position on this issue has been already defined”, – said the CEC head.
