In a letter to Erdogan and Russian President Vladimir Putin, said that Turkey is interested in resolving the situation associated with the death of a Russian military plane”.
“President Recep Tayyip Erdogan expressed deep regret about the incident and the willingness to do everything possible to restore the traditionally friendly relations between Turkey and Russia… of the Russian Federation is our strategic partner with whom Turkey would not want to spoil relations”, – stated in the message published on the official Kremlin website.

For its part, the Prime Minister of Turkey, Binali Yildirim has expressed its willingness to reinforce verbal apology to financial compensation.
“We (Turkey – approx. ed.) have expressed our sincere regrets. If necessary, we are willing to pay compensation for the downed Russian military plane. Both countries want normalization of relations”, – quotes its words of RIA Novosti.
In the state Duma of Russia frostily commented on the apology to Turkey. Deputies believe that the Turkish side was just forced to take this step due to the difficult economic situation and the negative effects from the sanctions imposed by the Russian side.
