The winners of the award “Read Russia” receive remuneration in euros


Among the prose and poetic translation from Russian into a foreign language can be lost. And looking for high-quality translated works generally takes a lot of time. The prize for the best translation of “Read Russia/Read Russia” will make life easier for writers, September 10, announcing the names of the winners of translators.

For the award applied 156 authors from 23 countries. In the top three: France, Italy and the UK. Among the submitted applications by nominations, the balance of this: “Modern Russian literature (works created after 1990)” – 69, “twentieth-century Literature (works created before 1990)” 55 and “Poetry” – 17 “Classical Russian literature of XIX century” – 15.

The application processes the group of experts, who transmits them to the consideration of the jury (the composition is formed). Candidates put forward publishing, educational, cultural and scientific centers, professional associations, and individuals, including translators. Among the members of the Board are: Peter Aven, Naina Yeltsin, Mikhail Piotrovsky, Vyacheslav Nikonov, Kirill Razlogov, Mikhail Seslavinsky, Natalia Solzhenitsyn and Vladimir Spivakov.

The winners in each category become the interpreter (interpreters) and the publisher released the book. They will receive diplomas, medals and cash award of 5,000 euros – translator (translators) and 3 000 euros for the publisher. The award was established “Institute of translation” and organized Presidential center B. N. Yeltsin.
