In his speech at the ceremonial meeting of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on the occasion of the Constitution Day, President Petro Poroshenko said that the issue of returning Crimea is as urgent as the question of the Donbass territories.

According to him, the process of restoring the sovereignty of the Crimea as part Okayany must start with making changes and additions to section X of the Constitution, which is called “Autonomous Republic of Crimea”.

“These changes are fully derived from the inalienable rights of the Crimean Tatar people to self-determination within the sovereign and independent Ukrainian state”, – stated in the message on the website Poroshenko.

Thus the Ukrainian Chapter recognized the right of Crimean Tatars in the autonomy.

At the same time, he believes, the rights of the Crimean Tatar people must guarantee equal rights and civil liberties of other peoples of the Peninsula – ethnic Ukrainians, Russian and others.
