The Ministry of defence will bring in the Arctic the latest “Sunflower”


The latest radar “Sunflower” will be delivered and deployed in the Arctic in 2017, reported “Interfax” the General Director of concern “RTI” Sergey Boev.

According to him, this time the Russian defense Ministry plans to purchase several radar: like the Arctic and the southern and Western borders of Russia. Thus, for the Northern latitudes of the radar to be specially modified.

Battles added that the deployment was already planned in 2016, but now the plans of the Ministry shifted.

Feature of “Sunflower”, began arriving to the troops in late 2013, is his over-the-horizon review. In March, exercises with the use of “Posologia” near Makhachkala held the ships of the Caspian flotilla.

Currently in the Navy there are three such systems: they are located in the Okhotsk, Japanese sea and the Caspian sea. Accurate data on the radius of their action is unknown, but in the export version “Sunflower” is capable of tracking objects at a distance of up to 500 kilometers.
