Russia was considered an existential threat to world order

Russia represents an “existential threat” to the United States, NATO and the entire world order, expressed confidence that the former commander of NATO in Europe Philip Breedlove.

The Breedlove journal Foreign Affairs published an essay titled “Next steps for NATO: How to deal with Russia and other threats”. In the publication, in particular, he notes that U.S. forces and NATO in Europe is well equipped, but the military is ill-prepared for some challenges like Russian aggression and instability in the middle East and North Africa.

“The basis of any strategy in Europe should be the realization that Russia is an enduring existential threat to the United States, its allies and the international order. Russia intends to once again become a world power — the ambitions it demonstrated, in particular, the simulated attacks military aircraft on a US destroyer in the Baltic sea, and the resumption of flights of strategic bombers along the coastline of the United States — and I quote the publication Breedlove RIA Novosti. – Intervention into Syria has demonstrated Moscow’s desire to expand its influence abroad. Despite the growing belligerence of Russia, neither the US nor its allies are not adequately prepared to quickly respond to an overt military aggression.”

Breedlove said that the U.S. needs to strengthen its forces in Europe to recognize Russia as a global threat.
