Experts on Poroshenko in Brussels: “Brexit” has left Ukraine without Europe

“Brexit” so much influence on the EU that he doesn’t care about Ukraine. Brussels are so much immersed in the solution of problems that on Monday the President of the European Parliament Martin Schulz had not been time to meet with Poroshenko, who came to him from Kiev for talks on the early introduction of a visa-free regime and to extend sanctions against Russia. The rest of the European leaders postponed the conversation with the President of Ukraine from the morning to the evening.

For the first time since independence, Ukraine risks to remain without the support of the European Union, and is not an abstract threat but a fact, which is spoken including Ukrainian Ministers. Last week, foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin said that the EU could delay the opening of their borders for a month, so as of now he needs to solve the problems caused by the referendum in the UK.

In addition, the UK was the only country where the political elite did not hesitate to extend anti-Russian sanctions, while France actually encouraged the development of a plan for the gradual lifting of economic restrictions. The same appeal was made by the day before the PACE deputies, among whom were the Deputy of the Verkhovna Rada Hope Savchenko.

Hotels in Brussels Poroshenko had hoped to convince the Europeans not to depart from his uncompromising pozitsiyi towards Moscow, but the President of the European Parliament almost immediately refused to speak, and the President of European Union Donald Tusk and European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker postponed the talks from the morning to the evening. In parallel, the representative of the foreign Ministry of Germany Martin Schaefer once again said that Ukraine will hardly take the place of the UK in the EU.

“MK” has found out from experts, what will the result of the so-called “mini-summit ” Ukraine-EU”.

Denis DENISOV, the head of the Ukrainian branch of the CIS Institute:

The topic of Ukraine ceased to be significant for the representatives of the European Union, which is now thinking over how to maintain its unity. It has come to this for the past two years, but Kiev did not want to believe it. While it is expressed only in the fact that Europe’s leaders refuse meeting with Poroshenko, but in the near future we will see how the West will run out of lending money to Ukraine, signed the Association agreement will become for Kiev to Kabbalah, because in crisis conditions Brussels will be with maximum efficiency to use all the mechanisms to extract additional preferences.

Oleg BONDARENKO, a political scientist:

The sanctions were extended on the eve of a referendum in the UK and now the European Union finds itself in a fundamentally different reality. Unlike London, Paris and Berlin are not interested in confrontation with Russia. The same way Kiev does not wait for a visa-free regime. The Europeans never wanted to put the 40 million citizens of a country at war, where the smallest salary is 50 euros, and now, when the Union is going to enter Britain, the more it will happen.

Mikhail POGREBINSKY, Director of Kiev center of political researches and conflictology:

Ukraine will not be able to achieve from the European Union to give it the same attention as before “Brexit”. While most of the decisions in Kiev only accepts in order to curry favor with the West. Now this system will change, and so radically that Paris and Berlin can say that no longer will support Kiev until, until he begins to perform the Minsk agreement.
