Breedlove: ‘Russia is a recurring existential threat to the U.S.”

“Existential threat” to the United States, their allies and the entire world order called Russia, the former commander of NATO in Europe Philip Breedlove in an essay “the Next steps for NATO: How to deal with Russia and other threats,” published in the journal Foreign Affairs.

Breedlove believes that even though US forces and NATO in Europe is well equipped military is poorly prepared to meet the challenges of modernity, in particular to “Russian aggression”. This is the conclusion he came back in may 2013 when he entered office.

“The basis of any strategy in Europe should be the realization that Russia is an enduring existential threat to the United States, its allies and international order,” says Breedlove.
