Former US Ambassador to Russia McFaul explained the benefits of Brexit for Putin

Former U.S. Ambassador to Russia Michael McFaul explained why the British referendum in which more votes were cast for Brexit, is a victory for Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Europe is weakening, while Russia, its allies and multilateral organizations konsolidiruyutsya even attract new members,” wrote the former Ambassador in a column published in The Washington Post.

Putin, of course, was not the cause of Brexit, but it is a problem and its foreign policy on the threshold in order to obtain huge benefit from this,” said McFaul. According to him, for nearly 30 years, the West was gradually United, and the East was falling apart. “This trend has now reversed,” said McFaul. In addition, the Ex-Ambassador expressed confidence that Brexit would change the balance of power in the European Union.

Recall that in the referendum of June 23, the majority of voters voted for a British exit from the European Union.
