Died Soviet and Belarusian actor Rostislav Yankovsky

In Minsk at the age of 86 years has died the national actor of the USSR Rostislav Yankovsky. At the National academic drama theatre named after M. Gorky, where on Tuesday held a memorial service, said a huge loss for the arts. Rostislav Yankovsky was the older brother of the famous actor Oleg Yankovsky.

As reported on the website of the National academic drama theatre named after M. Gorky, on Sunday left the life of a remarkable man, a great actor, people’s artist of the USSR Rostislav Yankovsky. His demise called an irreplaceable loss for the family, friends and millions of fans.

“A great actor will always be cast, brilliantly played by them”, – stated in the message.

A memorial service will be held on June 28 at 10.00 on the Big stage.

Yankovsky played at the theater in which he served from 1957, 160 roles. He was permanent Chairman of the Minsk international film festival Listopad.

Jankowski came from a family of hereditary nobleman, a former captain in the life guards Semenov regiment. He was the eldest among the brothers – Nicholas Jankowski, who led the youth theatre in Saratov, and people’s artist of the USSR Oleg Yankovsky.

Together with his brother Oleg, Rolan Bykov and Vladimir Vysotsky, he played in the film “two comrades were Serving”, as he was busy in such famous films as “Dirk”, “the Tale of Star boy,” “Battle for Moscow”, “Adam’s Rib”, “Love in Russian”, “Councilor”, “In June 41-go”.
