In Iceland for the first time since 1996, will choose a new President

The inhabitants of Iceland on 25 June for the first time since 1996 to elect a new head of state. The President of Iceland Olafur Ragnar Grimsson decided not to run for the presidency, which he is in the last 20 years.

According to a 73-year Grimsson, among the contenders for the post of President is a worthy candidate. The favorites of the upcoming elections, according to opinion polls, are historian Gudny Johannesson, the owner of hull Tomasdottir and former Prime Minister of Iceland and editor of the newspaper “Morgunbladid” David Oddsson.
