The referendum on Scottish independence opens a new page in European history. The main reason for the growth of separatist tendencies in Europe was the desire for unity. The more work that is attached to the strengthening of the European Union and limit the sovereignty of its member States, the less stable they become. Who benefits?
18 September, Scotland may vote to secede from England – the number of supporters and opponents of independence almost equally, and to predict now the results of the referendum impossible.
However, even if the independence vote less than half of the vote, Scotland will not abandon the movement for independence. And the next referendum is sure to be a success for the separatists. Despite the fact that in the UK is based on the principle “one referendum – one generation”, the following vote can take place sooner than 20 years. But the main thing – Scottish independence referendum removes the taboo on partition of the States of Western Europe.
On the 9th of November will be a referendum on the independence of Catalonia and Madrid, although the government does not recognize its legitimacy, Barcelona is determined to secede, and the vast majority of Catalans support it. The separation of Catalonia from Spain – it is only a matter of time. Divorce Spain with Catalonia will be difficult also because in Madrid you know that the next in line for the release of will of the Basque Country.
On the way, and Italy – for many years separatists from the “Northern League” talk about independent Padania with its capital in Milan. But recently it became clear that much more urgent revival of the existed two centuries ago, the Venetian Republic (one of the most powerful States in the middle Ages). This spring, held a public survey in the Veneto region showed that the vast majority (90% took part in the survey, three quarters of voters) stands for the output from Italy.
It is significant that another hot spot of the European collapse is a country where the governing bodies of the EU: Belgium for many years on the verge of collapse into two States. In the case of independence, Scotland, Catalonia and Veneto will undoubtedly intensify separatist tendencies in Corsica, Sardinia and other regions which do not feel one with your current state. Western Europe is on the verge of formation of a number of new States.
New States in the West of the continent have not arisen one hundred and fifty years after the process of unification of Italy and Germany. If the map of Eastern Europe all this time continued to change – first, because of the dying Ottoman Empire, and then the death of the Empire Austro-Hungarian, – in the West the last case of separation was the emergence in 1830 Belgium separated from the Netherlands). In the first half of the 20th century were the changes in Northern Europe – Norway separated from Sweden, Finland was separated from Russia, and Iceland broke with Denmark. But both Norway and Finland by that time had already a century-old experience of statehood as a very broad autonomy and self-government.
In Western and Central Europe during the last hundred years, it was a completely different process – gaining power supporters Association. Pan-European aspirations intensified after the First world war and especially after the second. The creation of the European Union in 1992 was only the completion of a process of integration that began in 1951 with the formation of the “Union of coal and steel. “United States of Europe” idea which is still with Lenin’s times to fight their way, confidently began to materialize almost simultaneously with the collapse of the Soviet Union and the collapse of the Pro-Soviet Eastern bloc – which was, of course, not a coincidence.
For Atlanticists that held up Western Europe under control through the mechanism of NATO, it was necessary to preserve its influence upon the disappearance of so helped them mythical “threat from the East”. The Anglo-Saxons decided that the best way this can be achieved, leading the process of European integration. Europe began to gather not at the Vatican or German recipes, and the Atlantic. That is, as part of the great West, recognizing the leading role of the United States. A unified Europe was not a threat to the forces prodigiosin globalization, moreover, she was getting her experienced range.
Illusions about the benefits of European integration very quickly began to melt from the European Nations – even more precisely, those sectors of the population that these illusions actually had. But no vibrations of the lower classes had no effect on top – primarily because in many countries the elite was formed on the principle of loyalty to the Atlanticism. Scepticism about European integration was intensified by all the zero years – and especially after the crisis of 2008. But the EU has managed not only to maintain but also to significantly expand, with the admission of new countries in fact was not considered with any serious economic criteria.
It became clear that the meaning of the unification of Europe is not in the development of a common European civilization, but a simple consolidation of power positions Atlanticist, mastering all available space. “United Europe” was just a smokescreen for the economic, cultural and military subordination to the European space of the Anglo-Saxons. And suddenly – separatism? It’s a glitch of the program or its logical development?
From the point of view of the inhabitants of the separated provinces it’s simple – why feed the bureaucracy in London, Madrid and Rome, if still all live in the “United Europe”? You can save not only on the bureaucrats – the three provinces (Catalonia, Scotland and Veneto) have in common is that it is the richest and most developed regions of their countries, and none of them wants to share the profits with the poorer southern regions. Also, they do not consider themselves as belonging to one nation with them: there was even a single Spanish nation, not to mention the Italian and especially British. Language and cultural differences from the rest of the provinces are great – like the memory of a great past. So the reason for the separation is more than enough.
Who else benefits from the collapse of the Western European States? Undoubtedly, the Brussels – is of pan-European Atlanticist elites. To integrate the smaller countries are easier than large ones – so, verbally condemning separatists, in fact the top of the EU will benefit from the collapse of Spain and Italy.
More difficult with England – it would seem, why the Atlanticists to destroy the United Kingdom, which is one of the main tools of their influence on the process of European integration? But assuming that the interests of the Anglo-Saxon elite are not equivalent to the interests of their States of origin, and the elite has long been a cosmopolitan, the sacrifice of the UK will not seem so strange. Bet on the acceleration of European integration is now a major like Anglo-Saxons and their adversaries in the German and stromatolites elites of continental Europe – the first want to continue to manage this process, and the second are going to seize the reins of power.
If the German elites will be able eventually to rid the Atlantic of care in Germany and take control of European integration in their hands, the disintegration of the UK, Italy and Spain only facilitate pan-European dominance of the great German.
Thus, the collapse of European States may lead to strengthening of European unity – which, however, does not guarantee the triumphant March of European integration. Because it is threatened primarily by European peoples – who do not want to be brushed with the same brush. The current format of globalization leads to the emasculation of the essence of national cultures and traditions, to the elimination of all branches of European civilization as such and replacing them with a universal multiculturalism in the Anglo-Saxon. In the coming years, the Anglo-Saxons will be able to push the idea of the transatlantic partnership, i.e. the creation of a single market for both sides of the Atlantic (linking Europe to the transatlantic hegemon), the process of unification of European life is even more accelerated.
But how much has not been atlanticului and integrated European elite, Europe is still not going down without a fight. It is doomed to right, national turn, more weight will be forces opposed to the current model of political integration and for the preservation of national States and national identity. In the coming years they will start coming to power in a growing number of EU countries. This process will occur in the newly formed States, and the remaining intact – and then the first attempt peaceful unification of Europe under one hegemony may end as badly as all the previous power.
And then Russia may be out of phase – the gathering of Russian space will go on the background of the disintegration of the European. After all, “we will try to solder it with love – but we’ll see what’s stronger…”Related posts:
