PACE believes that Turkey’s problems with democracy

The relevant concerns of the delegates of the parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe were formulated in the report “the functioning Of democratic institutions in Turkey”, presented at the PACE session in Strasbourg.

In particular, the document points to the pressure on the media and freedom of expression in Turkey, human rights violations and the escalation of violence in the South-East of the country.

“We urge the Turkish authorities to reconsider the legal definition of offences related to terrorism,” the report said.
