Poetry evening the famous Russian poet Andrey Dementyev June 22 was successfully held in the famous hall of Carnegie hall. The concert took place in the framework of the festival “Our heritage”, organized by the Russian-American Foundation (President Marina Kovalyov).

The event was attended by numerous representatives of the Russian Diaspora in new York, diplomatic missions of UN, ambassadors of the CIS, Professor, Department of Slavic studies, Columbia and new York universities. The verses of Andrei Dementyev sounded both Russian and English translation, American poet Julian Lowenfeld. Anticipating the festival” Our heritage” evening of Russian poet Andrey Dementyev, the mayor of new York bill De Blasio said, ” I applaud this event, which helps to preserve cultural heritage and traditions of the Russian Diaspora in the USA! It is very important for many of our national city.“
The poet began his speech with memories of the war, which he survived as a boy:
We destiny not similar, but the memory is similar.
And so you mourn with me…
In the hall was a full house. The audience accompanied the poet with a standing ovation. Unfortunately, hall was able to carry everyone, so the organizers of the concert had the idea to spend the evening again.Related posts:
