New Black square hit Urbandale

Venice turned the XV architecture Biennale – the world’s major review of the architecture. The theme this year is “Reporting from the front line” – asked the curator of the Chilean Alejandro Aravena, sensitive to social needs. The Biennale had no choice but to deftly respond to current problems: refugees, overpopulation, pollution, water scarcity, climate disaster, for some people life under fire… So get ready, all that is presented today in Venice is the architecture for the coming years.

The Project Of Alexander Brodsky

The pavilions of countries scattered throughout the city, the most emblematic projects is the Arsenal and the Giardini, reminiscent of our ENEA, only without the stalls selling pasties. The audience flock to the major sites from the Cathedral of St. Mark, but reaches not the goal so soon. The path lies along the waterfront, where architecture (both modern and masters of the Renaissance, Sansovino, Palladio, and Longhena) to distract the many cafes with cups of cappuccino and local cocktails type Bellini or a syringe. So many of the Biennale to get a bit relaxed.

Ideas Aravena read already at the entrance to the Arsenal. The installation of the first hall is the “rain” of 100 tons of debris from the previous exhibition – literally forces you to Crouch with fear. Develop the theme of waste to Asian countries, gathered from waste (including food) a full house. Venetians love these projects, because they themselves groan from problems with musarm. (They have no landfills, and the waste packages have to put the door at certain hours. If you do it before or after the scheduled time – gulls torn cellophane bags and scatter the contents at the nearest bridge.)

For the main project Aravena from 37 countries selected works of 88 architects, with a third of them exchanged fifth decade. The best of them we know Norman foster, whose Grand ideas in Russia is not fated to come true. Here, however, the British allowed to roam. His Foundation has collected first prototype of tranaport – airport unmanned cargo aircraft for Africa, where there are almost no roads. The project fits in with the theme of the Biennale, after all, the star architect is not busy with skyscrapers, and the creation of a network that will help people in poor countries with the delivery of necessities.

Module toneport – a very simple but beautiful: reminiscent of the old Tashkent the bath in the form of a dome. The idea of the author, such constructions can be combined in chains cover large spaces and take a lot of planes. We show three samples at different stages of construction, which completely debunk the myth about the complexity of the concept. The calculation is that every architect will have an idea on the pencil and implemented it anywhere in the world. Because the design is very versatile: it can be used for both airports, and markets, schools and hospitals. Well, first toneport will appear very soon on the banks of the Congo and the Nile in Rwanda.

Another of the participants of the main project from two of our fellow – mater “paper architecture of Alexander Brodsky and his younger colleague Boris Bernasconi futuristic work Matrex intended for SKOLKOVO. A four-meter blue matryoshka with a spiral interior of the Guggenheim Museum, which will take more than one million, looks a little mocking in the background of a cheap foam and wooden models of other countries. Matrex is a versatile space where offices side by side with museums, concert halls, gardens and restaurants. In General, this conversation is not about dealing with the crisis, shortage of resources and environmental hazards.

But it says pet architects and critics Alexander Brodsky, whose work for many years in great demand among foreign investors. It’s his unique combination of artistic and architectural philosophy, it is this time did not disappoint the master. Podkashivatsya as the nearest bell tower, hut Brodsky from reechek and a few nails barely holding at Bay. It seems a little bit more and a black box will fall, and with it will fall apart so the bent chairs, table and chess crumbling concrete. But everything is like mother Russia! And if someone does not understand: this poignant image came together all the themes of Russian culture: poverty, sadness, separation, love, war… Brodsky gave a masterpiece. Rightly it is called the new Black square.

Mr. Aravena realized not only that. Took projects Brodsky and Bernasconi and showed the two poles of Russian culture – terrible poverty and the excessive power of money and technology. This is the whole of Russia, where the equator does not yet exist. And probably need to be a Chilean, to understand it.

And here is the answer of the Russian pavilion on the topic of the Biennale came unexpected. Our building, Shchusev built in tsarist times and its reminiscent of the Kazan railway station, dedicated to the VDNKH. The complexity of the project was the immensity of the phenomenon of the exhibition space: it was necessary to show the architectural-landscape ensemble and its dramatic history, today’s rebirth and prospects. Exposition begins with a video about the history of facts and figures under the “Holiday Overture” Shostakovich. In front of the screen – lightbox, recreating the relief Vucetic, “glory to the Soviet people”, discovered in a wooden wall during the restoration of the Central pavilion VDNH two years ago. Then – darkness, where glow white copies of statues “worker and collective farm girl” the bulls “Animal” and the girl from the fountain “Friendship of peoples”.

From the metaphorical past to present go up the spiral staircase, and then looped around us a panorama of today’s ENEA. Moms with strollers walking along the halls, kids eating ice cream, flying birds, flowers lilac… And in the hall next to our foreign students design wonders from flying units to roam the pavilions of wild animals – that in the abstract future flooded the complex. Well, in the final room – the “Office of research – present research. Especially impressive 48 specially published books and albums with rare photos and documents about the exhibition space.

All right, but only our exposition turned away from the General trend. Although the curator of the Russian pavilion, the chief architect of Moscow Sergey Kuznetsov believes that the project responds to the request of the Biennale, about the “report from the front line”.

– During training it seemed that the winning culture with a “plus” culture with the sign “minus” is the front line, which is being held in architecture, at least in Russian, – says Sergey Kuznetsov. – Biennale showed that there is some opposite views advanced by the European public and attitudes in Russia. When we had the race for cheap, mass housing, built “Khrushchev,” and there were sleeping areas, all of Europe was concerned with improving the quality of life. Now, when we have relied on the comfort, equipped with modern amenities such cultural and entertainment projects as VDNKH, in other national pavilions ideas like communal living and manufactured home. I’m sure if we put our architects with projects 60 years, there would be a furor. The maximum simplified areas like New Cheryomushki we have already built, we live in them and not feel attractive, it’s dated. Europe on this scale is not touched, so they are willing to look for the beauty in the wasteland and the outskirts of the city.

The theme of housing affordability at the Biennale – burning. The Spaniards, the exposure of which the jury recognized as the best among the national pavilions, and offer options for the development of long-term construction and explain how to get to serve everyday needs it is not adapted to this space. Meanwhile, according to the curators of the pavilion of great Britain, the housing crisis in their country has reached such proportions that the architects are asking people to move in the bouncy house in the form of balls or wooden cells that can populate a large area. Nigerians generally are campaigning to live and study in a house on the water, which they managed to bring to Macau. And in the Antarctic pavilion presented the projects of towers made of organic materials that will eventually be able to disappear without damage to the environment.

People at the Biennale complete, including the Russian pavilion, he is among the top three most visited. Those who do not drive to Italy, will be able to see our project in Moscow, though not before 2017. Although coming here is more and in order to commemorate the brilliant architect Zakho Hadid, monumental show which launched in Venice in parallel with the Biennale.
