The Minister of economy of Turkey Nihat Zeybekci made a provocative statement on the Russian su-24 bomber, shot down over the territory of Syria. According to him, Turkey regrets that the Turkish F-16 fighter knocked him down with a missile.
The Turkish Minister Nihat Zeybekci said that the authorities “don’t feel bad” because of the incident with the downed Russian plane su-24. Thus, according to him, Ankara is “saddened” by this circumstance. “They (the Russians) also should be saddened,” said Zeybekci.
The politician expressed confidence that Russia in this situation was wrong because the plane was in Turkish airspace for about 14 minutes and got a lot of warnings, writes RIA Novosti with reference to the Hürriyet Daily News.
In his opinion, the only reasonable way out of the situation — “to establish a relationship as soon as possible”, as the conflict between Moscow and Ankara have had adverse consequences for both sides.
Turkish fighter jet shot down a Russian su-24 bomber in November 2015, after which relations between the countries deteriorated sharply. Moscow has repeatedly stated that the plane was shot down in Syrian airspace, while Ankara denies this.
Earlier, the press Secretary of the President Dmitry Peskov declared that Moscow wanted to restore relations with Turkey, which “suddenly” crossed with attack on Russia, but not ready to make the first move, waiting for the “necessary actions by Ankara”.
