Elections will be held under a mixed system. Half of the 450 deputies will enter Parliament on party lists (the so-called proportional system) and the other half in single-mandate constituencies (majoritarian system).

For getting into the Duma of the seventh convocation according to the proportional system, parties will need to overcome the five percent barrier. Odnomandatniki will be enough to gain a simple majority of the votes of the citizens in their districts.

Note that since the last Duma election, the lower house of Parliament is elected for five years, whereas previously only four.

Earlier, the Chairman of the state Duma Sergey Naryshkin said that in the current Duma elections can take part more than 70 political parties. Now presented in the state Duma four parties: “United Russia”, KPRF, LDPR and “Fair Russia”.
