About it RIA Novosti said a diplomatic source close to the Alliance. Earlier the defense Ministers of all 28 countries participating in the military-political bloc has approved sending a battalion of NATO on a rotating basis in Poland, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania.

In turn, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said that transferred to Poland and the Baltic States troops will be under NATO command, and the units will mainly consist of representatives of the “leading countries” of the block — the US, UK and Germany.

The U.S. permanent representative to NATO Douglas Lute said that the number of each battalion could reach 800 to 1,000 soldiers, and they will be replaced every 6 — 9 months.

It should be noted that the strengthening of NATO near the Russian borders, apparently associated with repeated statements of former and current representatives of the Alliance about the alleged plans of the Kremlin by seizing the Baltic States.

In turn, the Chairman of the Committee on defense and security, Federation Council Frants Klintsevich believes that NATO is preparing on the territory of Poland and the Baltic States a springboard for attack on Russia. According to the Senator, for these purposes, the Alliance is preparing to recover the ten former Soviet military bases, and all this takes place on direct orders from Washington.

In turn, the press Secretary of the President Dmitry Peskov said that Russia will take retaliatory measures after the placement of additional NATO forces near the Russian borders.
