Uzbekistan closed their borders with neighboring countries


The government of Uzbekistan temporarily closed its border with four neighboring countries at the time of the SCO summit.

Tashkent suspended the passage of citizens, as well as transportation and goods, which are sent from Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan, RIA Novosti reported.

Entry to Uzbekistan will be limited from 15 to 25 June, with the exception made only for the residents of Barak Kara-Suu district of Osh region, which is a Kyrgyz exclave inside Uzbekistan. They will be able to cross borders in the same mode.

At the official level reasons for the restrictions were not voiced, however, from 23 to 24 June in Tashkent will host the summit of the countries-participants of the Shanghai cooperation organization

The SCO was founded in 2001 by Russia, China, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan. In July last year it became known about the beginning of the procedure of accession of India and Pakistan.
