The USA extended sanctions against the Belarusian authorities, citing “extraordinary threat” to national security


President Barack Obama sent Congress a document which reports on the extension of sanctions against Belarusian authorities for another year. In published on the website of the White house document claims that the actions of some members of the Belarusian governmentcontinue to pose an unusual and extraordinary threat to the national security and foreign policy of the United States.”

Washington imposed sanctions against Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko and his entourage in 2006.

In mid-February of 2016, the foreign Ministers of the EU countries lifted sanctions against Lukashenko and Belarusian officials 169, which operated for 13 years.
