Opposition politician Lev Schlossberg today, in Day of Russia, received the award of Boris Nemtsov, first awarded this year.
The ceremony was held in Bonn, spoke at the nominees this year: the lawyer Hopes Savchenko Ilya Novikov, writer Viktor Shenderovich, a former prisoner in Bolotnaya case, Denis Lutskevich and representing Alexei Navalny, who is restricted to leave Russia, a lawyer of Fund of struggle against corruption Anastasia Ramenskaya.
The prize and its symbol – the statue of the work of the Bavarian sculptor Carl Rides – handed Schlossberg Nemtsov’s daughter Zhanna.
In his speech Schlossberg stated that he will donate the prize “Team 29”, consisting of lawyers and journalists. They were accompanied by case mothers with many children from the Smolensk region Svetlana Davydova, the Director of the Library of Ukrainian literature Natalia Sharina, the head of the “Institute of regional press Anna Sharogradskaya and a number of other high-profile cases.
The name “Team 29”, as he said, refers in article 29 of the Constitution of the Russian Federation, speaking about freedom of speech.
In his speech, Schlossberg said that the Germans were “a free man in an unfree country, and the place of his death on a bridge near the Kremlin became the second Calvary in the capital of Russia.
He also recalled the main provisions of the Declaration on state sovereignty of the RSFSR, adopted on this day in 1990: the politician said that while the country lived hopes for the future and the reforms that there is now.
