Distinguished guests from the EU back on SPIEF

Thursday opens the anniversary, the twentieth, the St. Petersburg international economic forum. For the first time after two years of this major Russian investment site will be visited by the leaders of the European Union.

The budget of the forum was assembled by 50%, thanks to contributions from sponsors and participants. As reported the adviser of the President of the Russian Federation Anton Kobyakov, the forum intend to bring more than 600 heads of Russian companies and more than 200 major foreign corporations. Among them were the leaders of Bahrain Mumtalakat, Mahmood Hashim al-Kooheji, Glencore Ivan glasenberg, Wintershall Holding Mario Mehren, Societe General Frederic oudea, Schneider Electric Jean-Pascal Tricoire, Alibaba Group Jack MA and others.

In the program of the investment forum there are about 100 events. They will be held in various formats: plenary sessions, panel sessions, round tables, business breakfasts, debates. The focus, as always, is the raw export of Russia. Especially foreign investors interested in mining projects in the territory of our country of oil and gas.

For the first time in the framework of St. Petersburg international economic forum will host a conference on economic development of the Arctic. Now selected 145 projects totaling 4.8 trillion rubles to be implemented in the Arctic zone of the Russian Federation, said Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin. Of this money, almost 4 trillion rubles from extrabudgetary sources.

“Prepared numerous contracts, protocols of intentions. We expected beforehand that their volume will in any case not less, than last year”, — said Prikhodko. We recall that a year ago the total amount of contracts and agreements signed at SPIEF 2015, made up of 293, 4 billion.

The total number of forum participants, including journalists, close to 10 thousand people. The number of applications from foreigners rose by 15% in comparison with 2015. The SPIEF budget amounted to 1.8 billion rubles, which is 300 million rubles more than in 2015.

As explained in the organizing Committee, the expenditure has increased due to two factors: the devaluation of the ruble and moving. The twentieth time the SPIEF will be held at a new venue — in Congress-exhibition center “Expoforum” on the Pulkovo heights. He is more “Lenexpo” in the Vasilyevsky island by area in two and a half times. “The decision to postpone the forum was made to not load the city, because every time for the citizens this led to the great discomfort”, — said the press Secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov.
