Russians in crisis have to buy smaller condoms


Condom sales in the first three months of 2016 at pharmacies in Russia fell by 20.5% compared to the same period last year, reports “Interfax” with reference to the data of marketing Agency DSM Group.

Just from January to March were sold, 3.5 million packs of condoms, however, the revenues of the sellers in relation to rouble has grown on 11%, to 672,2 million rubles, which is associated with an increase in the price of the condom.

So, the average package price increased by 40% to 180 rubles, and the price of one condom from wholesalers is 34.5 rubles.

Note that the predictions of price hikes of these products sounded at the end of 2014. This is due to the fact that all the raw materials for condoms comes from abroad, and in terms of crumbling rouble, its price had to rise, which eventually happened.
