Turkey unilaterally left the Russians without lemons and bananas


Turkey ceased to deliver to Russia some kinds of plant products, which have not yet fallen under Russian sanctions. Experts saw this as a political subtext, and suggested that Ankara decided to play in advance.

More Turkish companies do not deliver to Russia bananas, lemons, limes, legumes, nuts, potatoes and several other crops.

However, only at the end of April to Moscow there has arrived delegation of representatives of the Ministry of agriculture of Turkey. The visitors had intended to agree on the lifting of the ban on exports to Russia, Turkish pomegranates, peppers, lettuce, and eggplant, as well as to remove the question of total prohibition of plant products from that country.

Then the parties came to an agreement that the Turkish producers will promptly send to Russia irrefutable evidence of control of quarantine pests such as Mediterranean fruit fly, the California thrips, and others.

In exchange, Moscow promised to reopen its market for previously banned products. However, the documents from Turkey and not received. Moreover, Turkey is not waiting for the ban, refused to supply other types of its products.

In an interview to Life communications of the Eurasian business Union Andrey Malosolov, said that Turkey is, most likely, decided to play in advance.

In turn, Professor at the Institute of contemporary development Alexei Skopin suggested that Ankara will begin to deliver their products through third countries: for example, through friendly Azerbaijan.

It should be noted that nine out of ten lemons lying on the shelves of Russian — Turkish. However, the head of the Rosselkhoznadzor Sergey Dankvert informed promised that the deficit of the citrus country is not threatened. According to him, the supply of lemons has joined the countries of South America.
