The UN has rejected the attempt to shift the blame for the misfortune of the Ukrainian people to Russia

Deputy permanent representative of Russia to the UN Eugene zagajnov rejected the attempt of the Ukrainian delegation to “shift the blame for the misfortune of the Ukrainian people to Russia.”

“The suffering of the population in the South-East of Ukraine is a consequence of large – scale military operation launched by Kiev in 2014 against the region and its socio-economic blockade,” said zagajnov.

We will remind, during meeting of the UN security Council a day earlier, the Ambassador of Ukraine Vladimir elchenko, reported increases in cases of sexual violence during the conflict in the Donbass and appealed to the world organizations with a request to mention this issue in their reports.

In response, Eugene zagajnov drew attention to the plight of women refugees (internally displaced persons) in Ukraine and noted that this question “in contrast to the claims of the Ukrainian delegation, reflected in the documents of international organizations.” “The office of the high Commissioner for refugees has repeatedly drawn attention to cases of sexual and gender-based violence against these women. Special monitoring mission of the OSCE also noted the particular vulnerability of Ukrainian IDPs face the risk of trafficking and exploitation,” quotes his words TASS.
