FSB caught the hackers who stole 1.7 billion rubles from Russian banks

FSB together with the Ministry of internal Affairs stopped the activities of the hacker group who stole from the accounts of Russian banks more than 1.7 billion rubles. What financial institutions were victims of cyberhawks not specified.

During joint operation employees of the Ministry of internal Affairs and FSB have detained a group of hackers from 50 people. With the help of malicious computer programs the attackers stole more than 1.7 billion rubles from Russian banks.

All of them were charged in criminal case opened under article “Organization of criminal community and participation in it” and “Fraud in the sphere of computer information”.

Against 18 people remanded in custody, three more are under house arrest. The National guard aircraft was delivered to the defendants in the detention centers of Moscow, reports RIA Novosti.

The investigation took place in 15 Russian regions. During the searches were seized computer equipment, communications equipment, designed for dummies credit cards, and financial documentation and a significant amount of money. Also blocked were bogus payment orders almost 2.3 billion rubles.

In February, the “K” of the Ministry of interior were able to identify cyberbingo jeopardize the safety of the whole banking system of the country. Scammers tried to steal money from almost all banks of Russia.

In the past year, the employees of the MIA of Russia detained members of an international criminal group which was preparing a large-scale hacker attack on the largest Russian banks. Prey for cybercriminals could be 1.5 billion rubles.
