German foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier speaking in Berlin at the opening ceremony of the German-Russian conference “Potsdam meeting”, proposed a scheme for the phased lifting of the restrictive measures of the Russian Federation. According to Steinmeier, his proposed concessions to the Kremlin does not mean the abandonment of their own interests. However, more and more EU members began to speak about the “inconvenience” anti-Russian restrictive measures that harm all parties, not just Russia.
“Resistance to the extension of the sanctions among the countries is growing. This time the common position will be more difficult to achieve than a year ago, so my proposal – if the progress in the implementation of the Minsk to dogovorennostey about the possibility of a phased lifting of sanctions with Russia… After all, member countries of the G7 are directly interested in Russia’s participation in the “big eight… And no one is interested in the fact that Russia suffered economic collapse. “The West must continue to defend its position, if it violates our principles, but we need to apply force for discharge of the foreign policy situation and the search of dialogue”, – said Frank-Walter Steinmeier.
Recall that in the leadership of Germany and has previously advocated the abolition of sanctions against Russia. So, last week a similar proposal was made by the Vice-Chancellor, Minister of economy and energy, Sigmar Gabriel, who said that in the long term, these measures bring only harm and no benefit.
