The Ministry of foreign Affairs of Ukraine expressed its protest in connection with the visit of Prime Minister of Russia Dmitry Medvedev in the Crimea. In the Department are outraged that a trip to the “the sovereign territory of Ukraine” was not coordinated with the official Kiev.

The foreign Ministry of Ukraine said that Medvedev’s stay in the territory of the Crimean Peninsula is the “blatant disregard by the Russian authorities of the state sovereignty of Ukraine”.
The Department also noted that the head of the Russian government with his trip to the Crimea violated the UN Charter, principles and norms of international law. The Russian foreign Ministry sent a note of protest.
Medvedev arrived in Crimea on may 22. He has managed to hold a meeting with participants of the primaries of “United Russia”, and to discuss actions for the conservation of cultural objects and cultural heritage with the museums.

Recall that on March 18, Kiev expressed strong protest after visiting the Peninsula with Russian President Vladimir Putin. The foreign Ministry of Ukraine noted that the celebration of the anniversary of the “treacherous” capture of the Crimea “looks cynically on the basis of serious economic, social and humanitarian problems on the Peninsula.”
The Crimean Peninsula became part of Russia following a referendum held in March 2014, on which an overwhelming majority of voters opted for secession of the Peninsula from Ukraine. Kiev joining the Crimea to Russia was not recognized. The Ukrainian government awarded him the status of temporarily occupied territory.
