Attack of Ukrainians in Gorbachev called national complexes

Mikhail Gorbachev suddenly pushed Vladimir Putin in the conditional list of “the main enemies of the Ukrainian patriots”. At least, the social network and mass media of Ukraine seething with indignation about the statements of Gorbachev that Crimea – is Russia. And, as usual, hysterically reflected the underlying national systems of Ukraine.

Over the weekend the first and last President of the USSR Mikhail Gorbachev in an interview with British tabloid the Sunday Times said that the Crimea is our. According to former Secretary General of the CPSU Central Committee, he supported the Vladimir Putin’s decision about the reunification of Russia and Crimea, and would have done in his place likewise.

“Crimea is Russia, and somebody can prove otherwise”

“I’m always for the free will of the people, as in Crimea, the majority wanted the reunification with Russia”, – explained the obvious to British readers Gorbachev. He also spoke rather sharply in the United States: “They were not genuinely interested in helping Russia become a stable and strong democracy. They thought that they cut it in size. In the process they have undermined the trust that we’ve built.”

American politicians still have not responded to the words of Gorby. But Ukrainian to remain silent could not.

“In such cases, the SBU adopts the decision to ban entry to persons who support the violation of the territorial integrity of Ukraine. However, I do not recall that he visited last time he was here to do nothing. Diplomatic means will ask the European partners to accept and in Europe and funded his Foundation, which helps to stir up hatred between Russia and Ukraine”, – said the odious Deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Anton Gerashchenko.

His words seem to be very symptomatic and clearly demonstrate all the basic Ukrainian complexes.

First, it is the desire for total enclosure of all who do not share the Ukrainian views on the surrounding reality. Even in the Soviet Union were periodically let the negative attitude towards communism in General and to the Communist party in particular politicians, journalists and cultural figures. Under strict supervision – but let. Ukrainian politicians themselves seem to understand that their country is far from the most attractive on the planet, but still continue to make meaningless lists of “banned”. Probably not even North Korea is so insecure government and not watching so carefully over the compliance statements of their potential guests the Juche idea, as does Ukraine.

Secondly, it is the desire to dictate Europe on how she behave. European politicians regularly surprised that Ukraine, which clearly stated – in the coming decades the invitation to the EU can not wait, behaves as if it is one of the founding fathers of the European Union. It is unclear why the member of Parliament feels entitled to specify Europe who to accept and who to Fund. Kiev lacks a basic understanding of the difference between their own and others ‘ area of responsibility, as well as a minimal courtesy to the senior partners. In Germany, we still remember the scandal that erupted after Angela Merkel dared to meet with Vladimir Putin. “Frau Ribbentrop” was then the soft definition, which gave her Ukrainian commentators.

However, something Ukrainian politicians are still learning. Their reaction to the recent recognition of the regional Council of Veneto of the Crimea as part of Russia was not as hysterical as the words of Gorbachev. That is, at the very least an elementary idea that Europe should not throw tantrums about the behavior of European politicians in Ukraine may be starting to understand, though not to the end and not all.

At the same time, “addressing Europe” about “the Gorbachev Foundation”, Ukraine appealed to the wrong address. This public organization is not engaged in the issues of Ukraine, and judging by the fact that not listed in the list of foreign agents, and does not receive European funding. So the words Gerashchenko demonstrate his complete lack of awareness about the subject, about which he undertakes to talk.

However, it should be noted that this is not the first interview in which former President of the USSR welcomed the Crimean referendum. The publication “Free press” has published a selection interview with Gorbachev, and in all he said the same thing:

“People voted voluntarily, and the vast majority have chosen the path of development in the Russian Federation. It is what should happen” is March 2014.

“First, the Crimea was a referendum, which is very clearly determined the will of its citizens. In addition, Crimea is Russia, and somebody can prove otherwise” is March 2016.

It turns out that the reaction of Ukraine to the words of Gorbachev not only that, inadequate. She also still was delayed at least two months, with a maximum of two years.

Gorbachev, as we have noted, is one of the most unpopular in Russia politicians – the majority of citizens can’t forgive him for the collapse of the country. But unpopular doesn’t mean inadequate. Gorbachev realized long ago that the collapse of the country did not bring most people happiness, and that of the United States in the late ‘ 80s were not engaged in making a new friend, and the liquidation of the old enemy.

Thus, Gorbachev, despite his age and was not a good status as the “destroyer of the Soviet Union” remains more than adequate politician, than many of the young opposition, insistently repeating: “Crimea should be returned to Ukraine.” Crimea has returned to where it needs to be, and the more he nowhere to return.
