In a referendum in Tajikistan voted by 30% of voters


In Tajikistan, about 30% of the electorate voted for three hours after the start of the referendum on amending the country’s Constitution.

According to “Interfax”, the amendments were prepared by the representatives of both chambers of the Parliament of Tajikistan and consists of 41 items. In particular, one of the amendments that will allow the “Founder of peace and national unity, the Leader of the nation”, as referred to in Tajikistan, President Emomali Rahmon, in power since 1992, to put forward without restriction for election in 2020. Another amendment reduces the age requirement of candidates for the post of President up to 30 years, allowing to the eldest son of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon to nominate his candidacy for the presidency in 2020.
