The Pentagon complained about a “dangerous” interception of a us spy plane by Chinese fighter

Two Chinese fighter J-11, which are analogues of the Russian su-27 intercepted the patrol reconnaissance aircraft of the U.S. air force over the South China sea. The Americans claim that their plane was flying a routine mission in international airspace.

According to the Pentagon spokesman Jamie Davis, the incident occurred on Tuesday, may 17, in a neutral international airspace, when the aircraft is USA Lockheed EP-3 “was conducting a routine patrol,” reports CNN.

Another CNN source in the Pentagon said that such incidents in the region, in contrast to the interceptions of us aircraft of the Russian air force in the Black sea, occur infrequently. The new case will be discussed with China on military and diplomatic channels.

The disputed area in the South China sea is a source of tension between Washington and Beijing for several months. The Chinese have created in the disputed archipelagos of artificial Islands and deployed their weapons.

The United States regularly accuse Beijing of militarization of the South China sea. At the same time Washington does not consider the disputed territory Chinese and insists on the principle of “to fly, to swim and to act wherever permitted by international law”.
