NASA explained why the Americans on the ISS lost his toilet

“MK” contacted the official representative of NASA in our country and found out what happened on the ISS really is. It turns out that it was not about the failures of the UPA (Urine Processor Assembly Hardware Improvements), and its modernization, and took it not 5 days and only 6 hours.

– May 18 on the American segment of the ISS was carried out, it is possible to say the upgrade system regeneration of urine to increase the number of clean water outlet, explained to us the employee in the office of Alexander Koptev. – This system is only 6 hours was disabled in the container to receive the urine of the astronauts, added a special chemical reagent, which will increase the amount of pure water after processing.

While the UPA system was not working, NASA representatives could use the Russian toilet.
