The former Prime Minister of Italy, a friend of Russia and personally Vladimir Putin, Silvio Berlusconi made nervous Ukraine, USA and Europe. He met with Putin and Crimea, confessing that he is in awe of the Peninsula. The President of Russia, in turn, made changes to a decree on rehabilitation of Crimean peoples, include in the list of Italians.
A nervous reaction
“Phantom pain: Kiev condemned the visit of Berlusconi to the Crimea”
“The Ministry of foreign Affairs of Ukraine condemns a visit on 11 September the President of Russia Vladimir Putin and the leader of the Italian political party “Forward, Italy!”, former Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi… the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol. This trip takes place without the consent of the Ukrainian party in violation of the established Procedure of entry in the temporarily occupied territory of Ukraine and departure from it”, – stated in the message of the Ministry on the page in Facebook.
The Ministry said they regard it as “disrespect to national sovereignty of Ukraine”, and “the actions of the Italian policy are contrary to the policy of the European Union concerning the condemnation of Russia’s actions and the non-recognition of the illegal occupation of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea”.
However, the participants of the meeting and other politicians react to the attacks of Kiev quietly. So, according to the head of the Duma Committee on international Affairs Alexei Pushkov, the protests from the authorities of Ukraine can not affect the fact that Western politicians have started to go to the Crimea.
“Phantom pain: Kiev condemned the visit of Berlusconi to the Crimea. But condemnations do not change: Western policies already go and will go to the Crimea”, – the Deputy wrote on Twitter.
A strong friendship between Vladimir Putin and Silvio Berlusconi still scares the West. This friendship, and resistance from Berlusconi’s anti-Russian policy of the EU is Washington’s “great concern”, reports “Inotv”, citing the publication Foreign Policy.
Even when both policies are headed the governments of their countries, their friendship has caused US displeasure. The white house, for example, saw the danger in the plans of the Italian oil company ENI and Gazprom on establishing a joint gas pipeline “South stream”. As said by the former US Ambassador to Italy Ronald Spogli, “axis Rome – Moscow would have caused us concern.”
However, the departure of Berlusconi from the post of Prime Minister of Italy did not affect his friendship with Putin. In June they met in Rome, and Berlusconi promised that his party “Forward, Italy!” will fight for the removal of anti-Russian EU sanctions.
To the delight of the Italian

From Crimea to Donbass
Journalists were interested in simply campers and bystanders, the views of Vladimir Putin and other issues.
So, the Russian President was asked to comment on calls to include in the part of the country DND and LNR. “We are the heart and soul of Donbass, but, unfortunately, such issues are not solved in the streets. This is a serious issue that concerns the future of all Russia and people who live in Donbass”, – quoted the Russian leader RIA “Novosti”.
Putin also noted that the alternative to the Minsk agreements on settling the situation in the Donbass no. However, you might think about rescheduling the timing of their implementation. “Here Mr. Kuchma said this, that is not enough time to do everything. In principle, it is possible to think about some postponements, but it is better to aim to have everything done in time. It is gratifying, of course, today that stopped attacks by the armed forces and so called volunteer battalions with Ukraine in Donbass. I think that is the main achievement for today”, – said Putin.
“And most importantly, what you need to do is need to establish direct contact between the Kiev authorities and Donetsk and Lugansk republics,” he said. He recalled that in the specified agreements and the adoption of amendments to the Constitution and the law on local elections, which must be justified in the Donbass.
He also urged Kiev to adopt an Amnesty law. “How can you have a dialogue with people who are under criminal prosecution? And fourth, the need to finally enact the already adopted earlier by the Parliament the law on the special status of these territories. These are all key elements of a political settlement,” – said the President of Russia.
Silvio Berlusconi is one of the few European politicians who fully supported the position of Russia on the Ukrainian crisis. The actions of the Western diplomacy towards Russia after the annexation of Crimea, he described as “reckless and far from constructive spirit”.
At home, Berlusconi is still quite popular, although for him and there is a trail of trials.
