The Minister of Finance of Ukraine Alexander danyluk in his column in the “Economic Pravda” reported that on Wednesday at the meeting of the Ukrainian Cabinet of Ministers discussed the Jamala’s victory at the Eurovision song contest.
The victory was celebrated, but now it’s time to think about how to hold “Eurovision-2017” and to consider this event as a business project for the country.
“This means that we must find answers to the question: how much is this a contest where we take his money, and how these costs come back,” danyluk explained.
He remembered that in 2005 “the Eurovision” for Ukraine, has cost $ 1 million, but since then the costs for this competition has increased significantly and Sweden this year had to spend 43 million dollars.
Danyluk said that on the one hand with the help of “Eurovision” Ukraine will be able to promote its values in the world, but 30-40 thousand guests who will likely attend the competition, its cost will not be worth. On the other hand, among the spectators of the contest can be future investors who want to invest in the Ukrainian economy and thus after a while the costs will pay off.
After Danilyuk talked about several steps that need to be taken to the contest was organized well and with minimal costs.
At the same time, he appealed to still think about the budget and “a sober assessment of the opportunities and benefits”. “Remember that the project should be financially justified. UAH 1 billion ($40 million – ed) – this is a huge amount,” – said danyluk.
He reminded that in the end there are examples of transfer of the right to contest another country. “For example, France in 1960, handed him over to Britain,” he hinted danyluk.
“If we decide to hold a competition, you should clearly articulate for yourself why we do it, and what use is it for the state”, – concluded the Minister.
