Japan intends to launch a probe on the moon three years later

In the period from 1 April 2019 to 31 March 2020, the Japanese company Mitsubishi Electric Corp. plans to send to the moon first Japanese probe, which landed on the moon’s surface. Specialists have already received the contract and began work on spacecraft.

According to the newspaper “Nikkei”, the development of the probe will be conducted in cooperation with the Japanese aerospace Agency JAXA, as well as a number of leading universities in the country. The project is estimated to cost 18 billion yen (163 million dollars or over ten billion rubles).

Experts note that the upcoming expedition is not manned. It is planned that the spacecraft will be able to land on the moon at a distance of not more than one hundred meters from a given point — most of the currently existing similar structures the error of over a kilometer. The probe will weigh relatively little, about 130 pounds. His return to Earth is not provided.

To determine the point at which you have to get the probe will allow installed on the optical camera. Experts will compare the footage sent to her with the previously collected data of Japanese artificial lunar satellite launched in 2007. The aim of the researchers is to put the device to the previously detected an elevation with a diameter of about 60 meters.

Technologies planned to be used in the lunar mission, will later be used to create the first Martian probe, which is scheduled for launch beginning in 2022. In the future, as I hope the creators of the probe, their work will allow Japan to play a significant role in the preparation of the first manned mission to Mars.
