“Based on the best”: the Communist party will use Stalin for campaigning in the elections

The Communist party in the upcoming elections to the state Duma intends to use the image of Joseph Stalin in propaganda purposes. The head of the party Gennady Zyuganov, commenting on the initiative, said that the Communists want to turn to a positive Soviet experience.

Earlier, Secretary of the CPRF Central Committee on information and analytical work and electoral technologies, state Duma Deputy Sergei Obukhov told the newspaper “Kommersant” that the image of Stalin will be able to attract additional votes outside of the nuclear electorate of the Communist party.

Gennady Zyuganov also believes that reliance on positive Soviet experience, in particular the achievements of the Soviet Union under Stalin’s leadership, will attract new voters. “We will during the election campaign to use all that is best in our thousand-year history”, — the politician told RIA Novosti.

He recalled that in the course of the contest “Name of Russia” Lenin and Stalin have repeatedly found themselves at the head “of the list of those who respects the country, and more who contributed to the development of our country”. “Only for the feat in may 1945, a breakthrough in space and nuclear missile parity we will put the majestic monument on any very severe judgment of history”, — said Zyuganov.

In the field, the Communists have already started training campaign, wrote “Kommersant”. In Arkhangelsk they are trying to erect a bust of Stalin, and in Penza the bust is already installed. And penzenskoe branch of the party demanded from the Central office to cancel the results of the XX Congress of the CPSU, who in 1956 denounced the “cult of Stalin’s personality”.

However, according to the Director analytical “Levada-center” Lev Gudkov, using the image of the “father of the peoples” of the Communist party can attract votes only “ideologically disoriented, impoverished, in crisis citizens”. A “review of decisions of the twentieth Congress may even alienate a portion of voters from the Communists, since almost 70% believe that Stalin was responsible for the deaths of millions of people,” — says Gudkov.

In Russia since April against the law in the election campaign to use images of people who are not candidates of the party. The question of whether it does not violate any use of the image of Stalin, this law remains open, said Slon.ru.
