Unique gel for healing wounds created by scientists, using for this purpose… spiders. Remedy biochemists received, making the analog of the protein, due to which arachnids spin webs.

As told to “MK” at the Biological faculty of Moscow state University. M. V. Lomonosov, researchers have created a gene like the one that has the giant Madagascan spider-rogopag. By the way, this animal is also called solotopia for his ability to spin a web of Golden color. Artificially derived gene copy introduced into yeast cells of a certain type, which synthesized the desired protein, and on its basis made the microgel.

Getting into the wound, “spider” supports the growth of cells, and when it is delayed, the skin remains smooth, without scarring. This property was confirmed after experiments on mice. Females aged 10-12 weeks on the back removed the hair with depilatory cream, the skin treated with ethanol and struck the stiletto cuts with a diameter of 4 mm. around the wounds Then introduced a suspension of microgel. Four weeks later, biochemists have observed complete restoration of all structural elements of the skin, including nerve fibers and blood vessels. Those mice that didn’t receive healing gel left scars

According to experts, the advantage of such tools for skin wounds to its effectiveness and low cost.
