Lavrov: Moscow concerned by attempts of the West to cling to sanctions


The Russian foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said following the meeting of the International support group of Syria in Vienna, concerned that the temptation of the American partners and the EU to grasp the tool of sanctions as soon as something does not work.

He added that because of the sanctions against the regime of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad only exacerbated the already dire humanitarian situation.

Lavrov stressed that the sanctions as leverage to achieve political goals, actually harm the humanitarian situation of civilians.
