Venice recognizes the Crimea part of Russia

Venice, the Parliament will vote for the recognition of Crimea as part of Russia on 18 may.

The initiators of the introduction of the document in Parliament were 25 deputies, in total, it consists of 51 members. In the case of a positive outcome of the vote, the Venice will be the first European region to recognize the Crimea part of the Russian Federation.

A resolution condemning “discriminatory and unfair from the point of view of the principles of international law” EU policy towards the Peninsula, as well as calling for “the immediate removal of anti-Russian sanctions of the EU”, will be submitted to the Parliament of the Veneto region on may 18. On the same day, will vote on the matter, reports “Izvestia”.

Among its initiators – leaders of the largest factions of the Venetian Parliament — Nicola Finko “Northern League”, Silvia Risotto “List of Jaya and Massimiliano barison the “go Italy!”.

“I want the Italian government did not commit strategic errors. But the anti-Russian sanctions — this is the exact error, as well as the apparent non-recognition of Crimea as part of Russia. The economy of our region have experienced the effects of restrictive measures. Over the past half year, the losses amounted to more than EUR 1 billion. And it is only in the Veneto region. We want to create a coalition against the absurd policies of the EU. The Venice businessmen and the Italian people share our commitment. In addition, in political terms, Crimea has the right to self-determination, it is absurd to deny it on the basis of international law. Moreover, the absurdity of the policy of the EU is confirmed by the principles of double standards, for example, the situation with the recognition of Kosovo demonstrates that”, – said the Deputy of the regional Parliament of Venice Stefano Valdegamberi.

Earlier, a group of five Italian parliamentarians visited Crimea on a three-day visit, during which the members of the delegation visited Sevastopol, Yalta and Simferopol. They met with the presidential envoy in the CFD Oleg Belaventsev, the Governor of Sevastopol Sergey meniailo, head of the Crimean Republic Sergey Aksenov, the heads of parliaments of regions Vladimir Konstantinov and Catherine Altybaeva, commander of the Russian black sea fleet Alexander Vitko, reports RIA Novosti.

The organizer of the visit, the ex-MEP Giulietto Chiesa said at the time that the opinion of the Ukrainian authorities in relation to the visit of the delegation to the Crimea for them does not matter, and also called for the lifting of sanctions against Russia.
