The Kremlin called “slander defector” information on doping in Sochi-2014


The Kremlin commented on the publication in an American newspaper about rampant doping by Russian athletes at the Olympics in Sochi and methods substitution of urine by the security services.

The President’s press Secretary Dmitry Peskov commented on the publication in the newspaper the New York Times with serious allegations of doping by Russian athletes at the Olympics in Sochi in 2014.

As previously reported by “MK” in the article the former head of the Moscow anti-doping laboratory, Grigory Rodchenkov, went to the US, said that he had developed a cocktail of three illicit drugs, which was attended by athletes. And night laboratory staff together with employees of the Russian special services have changed the urine samples of athletes collected earlier, before the doping, and thus avoided the doping control. All this was done in order to ensure the success of Russian athletes at the home of the winter Olympics. According to Rodchenkova, among who were doping and 15 medalists, including gold medalists.

Peskov said that these accusations are completely unfounded and not based on any data which would have earned the trust. “It just looks like, you know, this slander of defectors, something like that”, – expressed his opinion of the Kremlin official.

He added that he “would not trust such allegations”, reports RIA “Novosti”,

Peskov also added that is guided by the assessment made in this interview the Minister of sport Vitaly Mutko. Peskov also said that after this interview relevant to Mutko will not change.

The President’s press Secretary expressed hope that the visit of the Russian team at the Olympics in Rio, everything will be fine.

Earlier, the representative of the Ministry of sports of the Russian Federation stated that at the time Rodchenkov was dismissed from his post for the manipulation of the samples and all said they might nothing like the personal accounts.
