Komoyedov commented on Erdogan’s words about the Black sea as a “Russian lake”

The Chairman of the Duma Committee on defense, Admiral Vladimir Komoyedov said the words of Turkish President Erdogan that the Black sea turns into a “Russian lake,” and that he would raise this issue at the NATO summit in Warsaw, reports TASS.

Komoedov said in this connection that at the beginning of the Christian era the Black sea was called Pontus euxinus, and with the ninth century has become a Russian sea and remained so essentially until 1991. Komoyedov also said that at the present time on the shores of the sea based naval forces of the six countries, which “may in friendly interaction to ensure security in the region.”

He also recalled that when he commanded the black sea fleet in 2001 were created have created a connection rapid response Black Sea Force, which included Turkey, Romania, Ukraine, and Georgia. According to Admiral, these forces enough to ensure the safety, commenting on the statements about the necessity to establish a missile defense system in Romania and to create the black sea fleet of NATO.

Admiral also advised Erdogan to re-read the Montreux Convention, which does not entitle him to forbid the passage of ships through the Straits of the Bosporus and the Dardanelles.
