Speaking against the mobilization of Ukrainian journalist kotsaba got 3.5 years


Ukraine has sentenced journalist Ruslan Kotsaba, which in January last year wrote an appeal to the Ukrainian authorities. In it he opposed the mobilization, after which the man was accused of espionage and treason.

A native of Ivano-Frankivsk sentenced to 3.5 years in prison, RIA Novosti reported.

Kotsaba published a video in which the Ukrainian language explained why he opposed the mobilization. In his address he also called on all appropriate citizens to refuse conscription into the Ukrainian army.

 

Posted a message on the Internet caused a wide public resonance both in Ukraine and in Russia, after which the authorities drew attention to the journalist the truth-teller. In February 2015 against Kotsaba initiated a criminal case, and then sent to jail.

Around the same time, Ukrainian law enforcers detained journalist Andrei Zakharchuk. He was accused that he was working for the Russian media, “incorrectly” was covering the events in Ukraine.

It should be noted that the international human rights organization Amnesty International recognized Cocabo “prisoner of conscience”.
